Dear Parents,
As we wind down towards the end of another incredibly busy term we as a staff take the time to reflect and be grateful for having the opportunity to work with your child/children.
It is a great honour which we take very seriously.
The Glowtastic disco fundraiser was very successful. I would like to thank Danielle Hinds for all her work around this. The weather did impact the picking up and dropping off in particular but the students had a wonderful time and had lots of positive comments .
We do thank you for your patience but obviously our current school set up creates a few issues with pinch points around dropping off and picking up. We constantly review and tweak our processes but our Child Safe standards and processes remain the priority and dictate these processes. Ultimately the longest pick up only lasted 20 minutes which is actually quite efficient.
We are continuing to have parents contacting us regarding online issues between students. We ask that parents continue to consistently monitor the use of devices and the platforms their children are on. Many of our students have accounts which have age limit restrictions, many of which are 13 years and over. We will continue to educate and engage services with expertise in these areas but ultimately parents are responsible for their child’s access and use of devices outside of school on personal devices. Any student using school devices inappropriately will lose their rights to use these for a period of time as per the ICT agreement signed at the beginning of the year.
I would like to remind our families of our processes in regards to raising concerns for your children.
The first port of call is always the classroom teacher.
We ask if it is a detailed or lengthy question, of a sensitive nature or something needing a longer conversation, to please make an appointment via the office so we can ensure the teacher is available to devote the appropriate attention to your concerns. The classroom teacher may escalate this to the appropriate member of leadership or if a request by parents after first speaking with the classroom teacher. We ask that all phone calls and interactions be done respectfully so that these issues can be addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
I wish all families a happy and safe holidays and look forward to their return on Tuesday 8 October, relaxed and ready to learn.
Warm Regards
Anna

2025 Planning
The process of planning for 2025 has begun. Any parents who have any separation requests will need to put them in writing and email to info@stcberwick.catholic.edu.au by Monday 14 October.
Please note that requests from any other previous year will not be considered as circumstances change. We are blessed at St Catherine’s to have a very professional and committed staff that plan together to ensure that the same learning opportunities are afforded to the students regardless of what class they are in, so please do not request individual teachers. All requests will be given the appropriate consideration; however, it is not a guarantee.

Prep Students Shine in the 2024 Potato Olympics!
Our prep students recently had an unforgettable day of fun, learning, and creativity as they participated in the much-anticipated Potato Olympics. This unique event saw students engaging in a range of exciting activities with their personalised potato athletes.
Throughout the day, students competed in events such as the Potato Weight Balancing Challenge, the Potato High Jump, the Running Distance Dash, and the Oval Run. Each event required not only a steady hand and keen focus but also plenty of laughter and teamwork!
Before the events, the students created their own Olympic Profiles for their potato athletes, decorating them with googly eyes, colourful texta designs, and wool for hair. The creativity was endless, with each potato displaying its own unique personality.
Beyond the fun, the Potato Olympics provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage in Numeracy as they measured distances, calculated scores, and compared the outcomes of their events. Additionally, students honed their personal and social skills as they encouraged one another, worked collaboratively, and celebrated each other’s successes.
The day was a huge hit, with students thoroughly enjoying themselves and leaving with a sense of achievement and pride. A special thanks to all involved for making this year’s Potato Olympics a spud-tacular success!
